Kendall Saville came up with a sponsorship idea in which he would be sponsored to lose. Poker players normally get attention through their victories. Yet, noticing that attention was actually given to the first player out last year at the WSOP Main Event, Saville launched a blog trying to recruit a sponsor that would be willing to share his loss… by winning in media coverage. In return for the sponsorship, and in order to give exposure to the sponsor, Saville hopes to be the “first player out” this year. One might wonder whether a sponsor can really win in such a deal… It is yet to be seen how this project will turn out as the sponsorship will be auctioned off on eBay.

It is estimated that approximately 8,000 players will participate in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, which will take place from July 28th, 2006 to August 10th, 2006. Saville’s strategy to lose is to go all-in every hand until the first player is eliminated. Yes, there is actually someone thinking of a strategy to lose… But what if Saville is not the first player out? Well, this guy thought of everything. If he is not the first player out, he will turn on a “switch” and will play in order to win.
